Susan Rardon
Rose, Ph.D.
I am a school counselor turned counselor educator, professor, and author helping educators and parents to build social, emotional, and academic growth in ALL kids! My long career in school counseling is highlighted below.
The school counseling blog delivers both advocacy as well as strategies to help you deliver your best school counseling program.
I'm a mother, grandmother, professor, author, and wife (I'll always be his). Until October 20, 2020, I lived with my husband, Robert (Bob) Rose, in Louisville, Ky. Bob went into the NAVY directly after his graduation from Paul Blazer High School in our hometown of Ashland, KY, in 1980 and was stationed on the USS Saipan when we met on a Blind Date on June 15, 1982. He was stationed at the NAVAL Annex in Arlington, Virginia when we married on June 4, 1983. We chose to discharge from the NAVY in 1985 and settled in Louisville. Bob held a BS in Mgmt. Info. Systems from Sullivan University and an MBA from Webster University. He managed electric distribution at Louisville, Gas and Electric and was with LG&E for 35 years in various positions from IT to Management. On that awful day of October 20,2020, my life profoundly changed, when this amazing man went on to Heaven. Married so young, we literally grew up together. We raised a family together and had a wonderful journey. We weren't ready for it to be over!
After Bob moved to Heaven, I embraced my love of writing as an outlet for grief. I know this is God leading me to honor Bob through using my background and experience to fulfill a new life purpose. Hence, this site is my attempt to share what I learned as a Counselor in education with what I am learning through this experience of walking this earth without him. My mission is to help those in grief move forward to see joy beyond this most painful time.
We are dedicated to empowering individuals and fostering resilience, growth, and purpose in both professional and personal spheres. Through our two divisions, Counseling Today and Profoundly Changed, we provide resources, training, and encouragement to school counselors, educators, families, and individuals navigating grief.
Our Approach
Whether empowering school counselors to enhance the lives of their students or guiding individuals toward healing after loss, Dr. Susan Rose is committed to fostering strength, purpose, and hope. By combining professional expertise with personal understanding, our company creates a partnership of support, growth, and empowerment. Together, we move forward—stronger, wiser, and profoundly changed.
Founded in 2001, Counseling Today is a trusted resource for school counselors. We believe school counselors are pivotal in creating solutions that lead to student success, not only in the classroom but also in their homes, communities, and the wider world.
Grounded in the principles of advocacy, collaboration, and social-emotional learning (SEL), Counseling Today emphasizes the use of data-driven decision-making, trauma-informed practices, and multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) to create meaningful and lasting change in schools.
By empowering school counselors to implement comprehensive school counseling programs, we help them foster inclusive, equitable environments where every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Profoundly Changed is a space for healing, growth, and rediscovering joy after loss. It was born from my own personal journey after my world was profoundly changed when my amazing husband moved to Heaven.
I turned to writing as a way to honor Bob and seek purpose in this new chapter of life. Combining my experience as a counselor with personal experiences, Profoundly Changed offers tools, resources, and encouragement for those navigating grief.
Our vision is to help individuals transform their pain into purpose, rediscovering hope and meaning in life. This division is a testament to the belief that even in the deepest pain, there is an opportunity for transformation, renewal, and joy.
